Remote workers
A budget app for freelancers across multiple currencies
A budget app for freelancers has to survive multiple currencies, a quiet month, and more than one client. Iron Wealth is for remote workers paid in one currency and spending in another. Log invoices in the app, enter or import each balance, and keep one net worth. It is not a bank and not advice.
Paid in one currency, spending in another
A client pays in dollars, pounds, or euros. Rent, food, and transport leave in the currency of the city you are in. Keep those as separate accounts. One converted total hides which money actually arrived.
Several sources, and months that do not match
A retainer, a project invoice, and a late payment are three facts, not one salary. Enter income when it arrives. A budget that copies last month's best invoice will overstate a quiet month. The free core includes 3 accounts on iOS and Android. The Pro price is shown in the stores.
Invoices in the app
Invoices are in the Iron Wealth app, so a sent invoice and a paid one can sit next to the account the money landed in. You still enter or import the balance. The app does not chase the client, and it does not tell you what to charge.
A worked example, with an example rate
A designer invoices 4,000 USD and spends the month in euros. At an example rate of 1 USD = 0.92 EUR, that invoice is 3,680 EUR before fees. The rate is an example, not a live quote. Next month the only paid invoice is 1,200 USD, which is 1,104 EUR at the same example rate. Enter each invoice in the currency the client paid, and keep rent in EUR as its own account. Iron Wealth does not tell you what to charge or which rate to accept.
Questions
- Can I track more than one client?
- Yes. Record each source as income you enter, and use invoices in the app for the bills you send. The ledger shows what arrived.
- What if I am paid in USD and I spend in another currency?
- Keep the paid invoice in its currency and spending in its currency. That is the multiple-currency case this page is for.
- Is this advice on what to charge?
- No. It is educational. Iron Wealth is not a bank or an advisor. The example exchange rate is not a live quote.
Download Iron Wealth free on iOS and Android. Log the invoices, keep each currency honest, and read the Pro price in the store if 3 accounts are not enough.
